Navy Wives Welfare Association at Shivaji takes quite seriously and literally the meaning of the word “association”. NWWA very proudly associates with people, events and things happening in and around Shivaji.   NWWA on one hand relates to seniors, friends, youngsters, acquaintance and colleagues to make contribution to our community and at the same time looks after the natures gifts of beautiful environment of Shivaji.   Activities undertaken by NWWA are just extension of this association

The  contribution s of NWWA are:

Anthar Bharti Balgram . Balgram, which is a school for destitute children has been getting generous support from the NWWA and a girl child from the school was adopted in Jul 2000 for her medical, education and living expenses by the establishment.   On the occasion of Diwali Mela Celebrationm in Oct 09 a male child named Chetan Pawar has also been adopted by INS Shivaji. The ship's welfare officer monitors the progress of the child on a regular basis.

NAB – Lions Home for ageing Blind: Under its programme to reach out and to promote cheer and happiness among the ageing blind, NWWA organised a musical evening for the inmates of NAB - Lions Home. NWWA has also organised a sale of items made by the inmates of the home at INS Shivaji, proceeds of which were used to provide facilities to the inmates.

Ankur: At Ankur there are a bunch of  “Happy” children who look forward to come to their play school and spend “fun time” away from their home. 

Sankalp: To provide a supportive arm for the specially challenged children, a school called Sankalp is being run where such children get special education and attention. 

Health and Family Welfare: These issues have always been primary interest of NWWA. The members have taken up a task of educating people on all issues concerning health and hygiene. A health camp on “Planned Parenthood” was organised where in a lecture and presentation on Abortion – its ills, little known facts, and psychological effects on the lady was conducted. 

Nature Walk: The NWWA members have constantly strived to spread the message and importance of environment protection . In this regard the Prakarti wing of NWWA conducted a nature walk for children as part of its ongoing environment awareness programme.

Vocational Classes: Education for all, especially adult education figures high on NWWA's list of priorities.   Towards this venture, many vocational courses like Spoken English, embroidery, tailoring, typing etc are being conducted on a regular basis to enhance the skills of the ladies of INS Shivaji
