LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT

INS Shivaji is a technical premier training establishment having an annual throughput of 5000 under trainee Officers, Cadets and Sailors. There are various engineering short and long courses conducted through out the year. Logistics department is the main supportive department almost spread all over at Shivaji and contributing as biggest source of Logistics.

The main motto of INS Shivaji, Logistics Department is 'AGGRESSIVE SUPPORT' , that is, proactively mobilise resources to achieve the role of INS Shivaji by providing Material, Financial & Human Resource Management Services within the ambit of laid down Naval Regulations. To function at the desire target and achieve it in the intended  time span, the department has seven sub-departments playing different role and function to accomplish a common objective of stability in support and supply to keep the Ship invariably operational.

Victualling Stores & Ration issue shop : The primary objective of the section is procurement of provisions from sources of supply, stowage and preservation, issue of authorised quantity of ration to the entitled personnel and also maintenance of relevant accounts. The section not only fulfills the requirement of the four galleys, Wardroom/ cadet Messes but also supply the victual to the outstations like DSC Jawan's, INHS Kasturi  and Air Force Station, Tropo. It also caters for  payment issue of rations to the entitled personnel and issue of ration-in-kind of variety ration (RIK) to officers and sailors at station.
Catering Department : The Catering department provides nutritious and sumptuous diet for better health and fitness of personnel. The establishment has six galleys to cater for ship's company/trainees of 1200 members.
Naval Stores : The section handles Naval Stores, stationery and POL items. The inventory of Naval store has approx 2800 items available in ready stock.
Clothing Section. The primary aim of clothing stores is to provide clothing to authorised personnel i.e. Sailors, cadets, Civilians Staff and payment issue to officers and follow zero scarcity objective.  Uniforms for free issue to all entitled personnel are being stitched by unit tailors as per the rates approved by HQSNC. Clothing issues are mainly made to INS shivaji, INHS Kasturi and AFMC Pune.
Pay Section. The Logistics not only is to support in respect of material and but also one of the basic need of finance management to all the salaried personnel. The section not only look after individual's pay and allowances nut also regularize the claims of all the personnel at INS Shivaji, Ty duty officers/sailors and also look after the requirement of pay & allowance of INHS Kasturi, DSC Platoons, MES Service Personnel, Naval NCC Unit at Pune, Air force Station at Lonavla,    DIAT & IMD Pune for Naval Officers/sailors attached/borne for MPCTC and Met course.
Civilian Pay Section. This section is one of the widespread and important section at INS Shivaji and the plays a very vital role of meeting Administrative, Financial and discipline requirement of the Civilian Personnel in the establishment.  Recruitment of Casual labourers, payment, pension formalities are the other related jobs undertaken by the Civilian Establishment.
Budget Section. One of the most important section of INS Shivaji, which deals with the management of funds and its systematic utilization. The funds are allotted by HQSNC and further being utilized all the departments under  suggestions, guidance and timely advices for best control over the funds by Budget section. It also responsible for  streamlining procurement procedure, budgetary control and best supervision of both public and non public funds.
Wardroom Mess : The new Wardroom Mess was commissioned on 16 May 1990 . The Mess provides messing and accommodation to the inliving officers of the Establishment and those on ty duty. It also functions as centre for many official/social activities of the base.
